About this role
This product-focused systems role works across networking, performance, security, and integrations. The engineer will take features through the full lifecycle: understanding customer problems, proposing designs, implementing and testing them, and documenting the resulting behavior in an open-core product.
Current projects include discovering and enrolling Kubernetes resources, extending role-based access controls, designing secure SSH access with short-lived credentials, and improving Teleport's core SSH infrastructure. The work reaches into Linux subsystems such as PAM, BPF, auditd, and cgroups, with most product code written in Go and shared as open source.
Role requirements and focus
What you’ll work on
- Build reliable discovery and enrollment for Kubernetes clusters, applications, and other infrastructure resources.
- Strengthen secure server access and Teleport's SSH foundation using short-lived credentials and protocol-level engineering.
- Ship product capabilities end to end, including design proposals, implementation, tests, documentation, and customer-informed iteration.
What they’re looking for
- Extensive professional experience with Go and with scalable, reliable, high-performance distributed systems or platforms.
- Linux systems-software engineering experience and comfort working close to operating-system and network behavior.
- A builder mindset suited to zero-to-one product work; meaningful open-source contributions are helpful but not required.
