About this role

This engineer will join a core backend team responsible for the services that power Openly's insurance platform and customer experiences. The work includes designing APIs, improving internal tooling, modernizing existing systems, and integrating with external payments, documents, claims, and property-data providers.

Openly's backend is primarily Go with PostgreSQL, running on Google Cloud with Cloud Run, Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, Terraform, Datadog, and CircleCI. The role combines hands-on delivery with architectural decisions, production reliability, mentorship, and collaboration across technical and nontechnical teams; prior payments or billing systems experience is especially relevant.
