About this role
WarpStream is a Kafka-compatible streaming platform that runs directly on object storage without local disks. This engineer will work across the system, including the agent storage engine, multi-tenant control plane, transactions, active-active multi-region clusters, and selected developer-console surfaces.
The role owns complex projects from design through production operation. It includes building high-performance services across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure; debugging deep distributed-system behavior; improving scalability and resilience; maintaining service-level commitments; and participating in on-call coverage for the platform.

What you’ll work on
- Deliver scalable, reliable backend services and storage capabilities for WarpStream's cloud-native data-streaming platform.
- Improve operational readiness, performance, availability, and the developer experience across a geographically distributed product.

- At least five years of industry experience designing, building, scaling, and supporting backend systems in production, with strong software-engineering, delivery, and documentation practices.
- Strong programming and algorithmic skills in a language such as Go, Java, C, C++, or Python, plus practical interest in distributed storage, large production systems, operational excellence, and on-call ownership.
